Best remembered for the late-'70s chart-topper "Baby Come Back," Player was formed in Los Angeles in 1977 by singer/guitarist Peter Beckett (at one time of the U.K. grouping Skyband), bassist Ronn Moss and guitarist/keyboardist J.C. Crowley. After adding drummer John Friesen, Player sign to impresario Robert Stigwood's RSO label and issued "Sister Come Back," which sabbatum atop the pop singles chart for triplet weeks in other 1978; their self-titled debut LP appeared that same year, as did the follow-up, Danger Zone. Crowley exited Player shortly later on, afterwards enjoying a solo career as a land creative person; the odd triple issued Room with a View in 1980 in front Moss and Friesen both bygone as well. Beckett, the lone unexpended creation member, continued the mathematical group for ane final LP, 1982's Spies of Life, in front retiring the Player name to put on a career as a ballad maker and solo performing artist. Moss, meantime, united the draw of the daylight soap opera house The Bold and the Beautiful in 1987; he and Beckett reformed Player in 1995, shortly later on issuance the reunion LP Lost in Reality.
